Vestas Receives Two Turbine Orders in Germany

Danish wind turbine maker Vestas has secured contracts in Germany for the supply, delivery and commissioning of turbines for two wind farms, totalling 96MW.

One of the orders has been placed by Energiequelle, a German renewable energy developer, to provide turbines for its 54MW Zeven-Wistedt wind farm.

Vestas will supply nine of its V162-6.2MW turbines in 6MW operating mode for this project in Lower Saxony, around 35km south-west of Hamburg.

The company will also service the turbines as part of an Active Output Management 5000 agreement with a 25-year term.

Vestas plans to start turbine delivery in the third quarter (Q3) of next year and complete commissioning in Q4 of the same year.

When built, the Zeven-Wistedt wind farm is expected to generate approximately 133,000 megawatt-hours of clean energy annually, enough to power around 37,800 homes. It can also help avoid roughly 100,000 tonnes of carbon emissions.

Vestas northern and central Europe onshore sales senior vice-president Jens Kück said: “We are proud to work on this large project in Germany, which will feature Vestas’ industry-leading EnVentus platform, our latest platform technology. This is the first time in a while that we worked together with Energiequelle, one of Germany’s largest wind project developers.

“Our thanks go to the entire Energiequelle team for their trust in Vestas and a great collaboration so far, which we look forward to continue in more projects together in the future.”

Vestas also won a repowering order for a 42MW wind project in Germany’s Schleswig-Holstein region.

For this project, the company will supply six V150-6.0MW turbines and one V162-6.2MW turbine in 6MW operating mode, as well as service the turbines via a 20-year Active Output Management 4000 agreement.

It plans to commence the delivery of the turbines in Q1 of next year and complete commissioning in Q3.
