US and France Announce Their Support for Libyan Technocratic Government to Hold Elections

The U.S. and France announced on Thursday that they support forming a a unified technocratic government in Libya to hold parliamentary and presidential elections.

The announcement came following a meeting between American ambassador to Libya Richard Norland and his French counterpart Mostafa Mihraje.

According to a statement by the U.S. Embassy, the two exchanged views on the political situation and affirmed their encouragement of the efforts made by Libya’s 6+6 Committee to draft electoral and ongoing work of the High Financial Committee to implement fiscal oversight.
