Family of Croatia Cliff Fall Victim Ella Cutler Say WA Police Officer Could Return to Perth Within Days

WA Police officer critically injured in a horror accident in Croatia could finally be back in Perth within days, her family says.

Ella Cutler, 25, has received around-the-clock care from doctors in Dubrovnik after she fell 10m from a popular photo spot in Pile, on August 26.

Her travel insurer has so far knocked back funding for hospital medical bills and to fly Cutler back to WA because she had been drinking on the night she was catastrophically injured.

A monumental fundraising effort managed to secure close to $530,000 after being launched by her devastated and desperate family.

In a positive update on Friday, the popular detective constable’s loved ones revealed they are close to securing Cutler a flight back to WA.

“There are a number of medical and logistical factors which need to line up before Ella can fly home to WA,” her family said in a statement.

“We are hopeful this will be sooner rather than later and we are optimistic it will be days, not weeks.

“What we do know is that Ella’s return home is now possible because of the support she received from her ‘blue family’ and the WA community.

“From Ella and the Cutler family, we thank you all from the bottom of our hearts.”

Among Cutler’s injuries are fractures to her skull, spine, ribs and several limbs, as well as two punctured lungs.

Doctors initially told her family she had just a five per cent chance of survival.

“She will require many more months of care, multiple surgeries and months of physical rehabilitation before she is able to impact the world as she once did,” brother Josh said previously.
