Five Bosnians Plead Not Guilty to Abusing, Torturing Serb Prisoners

Zijad Kadric, Hajrudin Halilovic, Asim Hamzic, Miralem Cengic and Samir Selimovic pleaded not guilty on Friday to committing crimes against Serb civilians who were being held in detention at the at the Ahmet Fetahagic military barracks in Visoko from May 1992 to the end of the year.

“Honourable judges, I plead not guilty,” Kadric said. The other defendants said the same.

Judge Minka Kreho said that the sixth defendant in the case, Amir Murtic, he will enter a guilty plea on November 15.

The defendants are charged with the torture, robbery and physical and psychological abuse of civilian detainees from the Visoko area, among whom were women, children and elderly people.

According to the prosecution, the defendants were members of the Municipal Headquarters of the Territorial Defence force in Visoko, the Bosnian Army and its military police force, and the police’s Public Security Station in Visoko.
